Responsibility

We have to take responsibility not just for ourselves but for all those who are ignorant or are just in plain denial of HIV/AIDS, as a reality. With the inept attitude and mindset of the following;

  • “It wont happen to me”
  • “Its not life threatening”
  • “Not a death sentence”
  • “It’s a manageable chronic disease “

These are just some of the mindset examples of the past and present. I have made the quality decision to inform sexual partners of my status and make them aware of the consequences of their actions if they persist on unsafe sex. Therefore it is up to me the individual who is HIV+ to take charge and put in place a safe sex policy not just to protect myself against re-infection or possibly infecting another.

I have been made aware of the many headlines of HIV+ people who do not inform their partners of their status and thus, their partners and others stand the risk of been infected. My standpoint and openness is quite different from the norm.

I am aware of various groups who have orgies with HIV+ people just to get infected and thus open the door for new strains of the virus which may become immune to current ARV treatments.

It’s sad to see that HIV+ people are been sent to jail because of their irresponsible actions. Please note this is a small minority but what concerns me is the case in the USA which could set a precedent for the world for HIV+ people which could drive them further into silence and many not going for a HIV test.

Each individual should treat another as possibly been HIV+ and take precautions and not let the decision up to the other party whom you are not sure is negative.

Many will blame those who are HIV+ for infecting others, but due to human nature we fall by the way. Many in passionate moment concede even though they are aware of the HIV+ status of the other partner. Finally it’s up to you as an individual to have the balls to accept that if you do have unprotected sex and after you have been informed that the other partner is HIV+, took take full responsibility of your own actions when consent comes from both parties.

Lets work together to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS and educate all those around us.

I try and make a difference every day in all that I come across to enhance and empower them with knowledge. What are you going to do today.
